When God Stirs The Nest

Would you believe me if I told you I was once reprimanded at work for having a friendly conversation with another colleague while I was doing my work one morning?  I was informed that my chatter was too much and that I’d be giving off the impression that I didn’t have work that needed to be done. Even though I was actually  working . True story. This happened. And I have the receipts to prove it.  There was another time when a higher up sat next to me in my cubicle to make sure I was getting my work done and monitoring the way I was communicating. I was informed this would be done with others, but it wasn’t.  There was another time when I was informed that all of my work would be closely reviewed because there were concerns about my work performance after I’d made some mistakes. I’ll admit, mistakes were made (that I owned) but the directives and expectations given weren’t always clear and frequently changed. Also, upon review of my work, there were no issues found.

This Too Shall Pass Too

A few weeks ago, I was supposed to be in New York City with one of my close friends. We had a trip planned to celebrate my 30 th   birthday. We also had plans to be at a fashion show before we were off. I also had pending plans for a trip to Santorini, Greece later this year too. Then suddenly, everything changed. My way of living, working, chillin’, exercising, and even attending church has all changed. The cause?   Coronavirus (COVID-19).  I’d heard different things via the world news, social media, and amongst family, friends, and co-workers. And honestly? At one point, I got annoyed. I was tired of people smearing their negativity, whining, complaining, fears, worries, jokes, memes, and anxiety my way and everywhere else. I even went on a temporary social media sabbatical because it was becoming too much. It’s not that I haven’t been taking what’s happening seriously, but when things first started, I was totally chill – until a ton of people I knew started acting extra.

I Ordered My First Pair Of Shapewear (Please Don’t Judge Me)

I’m a novice when it comes to the world of shapewear.    For  years,  I wondered how different women I’d seen in photos had the most amazing figures that consisted of a tiny waist and curves that fell in just the right places. This past December I learned the truth: shapewear. A lot of these women have been wearing  shapewear  under their dresses and other outfits and that’s why they look so snatched. If you’re reading this right now and wondering if I’ve been living under a rock, that’s fine. I’m so late it’s not even funny. Or maybe it is.  I go to the gym, workout regularly, count calories, and have been able to maintain a nice waist and keep my curves in check, but there are areas of my body that could benefit from shapewear when it comes to certain dresses I’d love to wear. Since it’s my birthday month, I’ve been able to do some retail therapy. Which led to the purchase of a gorgeous, sexy, curve-hugging, buttoned-down yellow dress from New York & Company. I love ev

It Was Just A Kiss

The hit BET series  Boomerang  is back, and I’m here for it. The show follows the lives of a group of close friends and rising young professionals navigating the world of friendship, careers, and their growing relationships. After watching the first season, I couldn’t wait to see how things continued to unfold with Simone and Bryson. If you’ve seen the show, then you already know last season ended with a little heartbreak after Bryson found out his girlfriend Simone went to dinner with her newly engaged ex-boyfriend for closure, mind you, Bryson said it was cool when Simone asked if it’d be okay if she got up with her ex. Well, after she did, the evening ended with Simone kissing her ex, lying about her whereabouts when Bryson checked in on her and finally confessing to what she’d done. Of course, this didn’t end well for her. Bryson was hurt, felt like he couldn’t trust her anymore, and he bounced.   Now that we’re in season two, Bryson’s got a hotation situation going, friends

Weekend At The Game

I follow basketball more than any other sport, so I have to admit, being at a game in-person vs. watching from home is an awesome experience. A few months back, I hit the road to Charlotte, North Carolina, an area I enjoy visiting, to check out my second NBA game. Years ago, I attended my first game when I went to see my favorite team, the Los Angeles Lakers, which was incredible! Although they weren’t playing at the game I went to this time, watching the Hornets take on the Bulls was a blast. Seeing the fans, energy, and players in motion was fun. And I was also in great company, which made things even better. My entire weekend in Charlotte was a blast. I love their downtown area, their food, the hospitality from the locals, and the fact that it’s just nice to hit the road sometimes. If you ever get the chance to go to an NBA game and/or spend some time in Charlotte, go for it. Both are a really good time.

Bachelorette Guide To Turning 30

Fun fact: Jesus was about thirty years old when he  began  his public ministry – Luke 3:23 This particular fact and scripture reference personally helps me keep perspective when I have moments of frustration, insecurity, and impatience about the direction my life is going. 2 Samuel 5:4 also reads, “David (the young shepherd boy, giant slayer, and future king of Israel) was thirty years old when he began to reign.” While I’m actively working and pursuing my goals and dreams and have no aspirations to pursue a life of ministry or ascend a royal throne, I do have an understanding that some things obviously take time.  I also believe turning 30 is gonna be lit.  I’m looking forward to what this new decade has in store for me. Prayerfully, an abundance of great and exciting things, along with plenty of rich experiences too. I know I deserve them. When I think about different ups and downs I’ve pushed through, I know there have to be good things headed my way. A friendly acqua
